Dr. Rich Jackson is passionate about improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes, both nationally and internationally. This includes innovative care delivery programs, as well as optimization of ongoing programs using new analytics to assess and improve clinical systems. The goal is better clinical and personal outcomes while decreasing the frustrations of everyone involved with diabetes. To Dr. Jackson, diabetes is the quintessential chronic disease and can both learn from and provide direction for other chronic diseases.
In 2015, Dr. Jackson started a non-profit organization that provides diabetes education and consulting, concentrating on individuals and populations in underserved areas. This includes people with diabetes, pre-diabetes and cardiometabolic syndrome. Dr. Jackson developed the 'On the Road' diabetes program, whose clinical impact and scalability was validated through a CMS Innovation award. The program is delivered in local neighborhoods by community health workers, promotors, or their equivalent.
