The allure of group visits

Group medical visits have been around for a long time, have a number of attractive features, yet the implementation is quite low. Although there are various flavors, the most common are a group of people with a common chonic condition such as diabetes meeting together with one or more clinicians to share and discuss their self-management and treatment approaches. These visits commonly include treatment and medication adjustments, as well as some degree of physical examination. This article is the most complete and cogent analysis of the topic that I have come across, and identifies the many gaps in our understanding of the practical utilities of group visits. If this area is of any interest to you, take a look. Don’t be daunted by the length, the summary sections are excellent.
