Note on Lifestyle

There are many ways to eat healthy, but none of them include sugar-sweetened beverages

Nutrition advice is ubiquitous and confusing, and tends to suggest one specific diet approach. However, a report out today from the Women’s Health Initiative shows that there are many different healthy diets, all of which reduce the risk of developing diabetes. In another study published today, sugar-sweetened beverages were associated with decreases in mental acuity, with the effects being MUCH greater in people with diabetes who drank more than 2 servings a day; see the figure below. Remember that this also includes juices and sports drinks.
